Its finally nice outside and I'm stuck in the lab for 9 hours. On the plus side I got paid today. Please note that this post will not be spell cheeked.

"Blizzard Bites His Leash"

I took over 320 photos (and one 45 second movie of my brother dancing) over the course of the weekend of my cousins wedding. I post a lot here when I'm feeling less lazy. This one is of my brother walking the dog before we left.

Little Boy Blue Screen

I took over 130 photos today for various reasons. Here are a few:

"Racing Geo"

This four door Geo Metro has duct tape racing stripes. Either that or the tape is there to hold the hood on.

"Architecture Accreditation"

This is one of many photos I took of the architecture accreditation that is going on right now.

"Chroma Chicken!"

We were shooting some blue screen stuff for an animation project today. The chicken won't be in the final project. Unless....

"Professor Lipsky Swings"

"Golf Lessons"

"Lawrence Swings"

"Artificial Crane Shot"

I'm going to Philadelphia for my cousins wedding tomorrow, which means I will have to miss one of my favorite class, animation 2. I take pictures there though.

Another Futurama poster

{I couldn't fing a good font to match the original, the punctuation was drawn in with shapes}

My final version of this Futurama poster

{illustration based on a similar original}

National Bank of Poland Poster

{I do love illustrator, if only this could be somehow harnessed, of course then I would probably hate it}

My hypothetical solar decathlon poster

{of course it does not include any of the branding that was created for the whole project}

Silly Friday

"Camera Three, truck right!"

"Mutitasking"

"Symbol Handheld"

The last photo is of the bar code scanner/ PDA-like-device that is being used for NYIT's Solar Decathlon entry. Users will scan bar codes around the solar house, which will play flash animations on the handhelds about various solar technologies.

Ellen's drawing

{is Ellen talented or what, she wins the prize, which was just upgraded to a 2 week tour of the Pacific rim}

We Call Them Pirates Out Here

I'm bored. I want to get out of here.

scott.onPress = fuction () {
goOnVacation (newZealand, 1week);
}

there, maybe that actionscipt will help. Guess what it means...

I'm starting to get really bored with school (except for Flash). Luckily I have a lot of classes this semester where I don't do much. I like helping people more than working on my own stuff. I don't want to graduate. I'll come back and help people. "What are you doing here???"

My printer stopped printing magenta, and black, and yellow (sort of). Cyan is the last man standing. I refuse to get a new printer because then I would be playing into the printer manufacturers hands. What a scam. I'll just start silk-screening any documents I have to make. The scanner on my printer still works. After it stops printing altogether, I can turn the scanner part into some sort of weird camera. That would be cool.

{now playing: Elvis Costello - This Year's Model}

It's weird how Elvis Costello's 'Pump It Up' makes you actually want to pump it up. I guess he is that good.

I need more random things to write about.

Thanks for the underwhelming response to my flash drawing program. No one submitted screen shots so I'm keeping the prize money (4 cents and a ball of lint).

new contest: I'll give $10 to the first person that hands me a bottle of Molson and mentions this blog post.....

Draw me a picture

booo, clogger does not like my flash file as it will not display the buttons that will enable you to draw me a picture. I will try to get it to work when I am less sleepy so you can draw on my blog and send me a screen-grab. I will also post my awesome flash midterm. but for now, boo clogger......

Update: IT FREAKIN WORKS! I just had to use an absolute path rather than a relative path to the file. That's what I get for letting a program write my HTML for me, infernal machines!!!!....

Draw me a picture and send me a screen-capture!

Stupid HTML tricks

I just learned about two more attributes/parameters/properties for the anchor tag. While browsing at Bertucci's website I noticed these cool rollover titles (sometimes called tool tips) for the buttons on the page. After inspecting the code of the page I found that these could be made using the title property of the anchor tag. I also saw in the code that there was an accesskey property that allows a user to hit a shortcut key instead of clicking the link (on a mac, hold down control and press the hot key, on windows, hold down alt, press the hot key and press enter). Another property that I already liked to use is the target property. When set to "_blank" this property opens the link in a new window. These properties are entered into the anchor tag in the same way the href property. In other words, the following could appear in an anchor tag:

href="http://www.nabisco.com" title="yummy cookies" accesskey="c"

In this case the link goes to the Nabisco website, has the tooltip (rollover title) of "yummy cookies" and can be opened by holding down control + c on a mac, but it does not open in a new window. Not all browsers support the accesskey property.

Here is a link with these properties (the access key is "s"):

NYIT's Solar Decathlon page

In other news, my back hurts too much to go to the lab so I think I will just work on my Flash midterm at home, if I can stop being distracted and sidetracked by interesting HTML that I come across.

{now playing: Sigur Rós - Ágætis Byrjun}

The Canorama

Marcy Merill makes some cool and weird cameras/pictures.

Last of the Gates pictures

Finally, here are the last pictures of The Gates that I will put up

"Gates En Macro, Central Park"

"Woman On Bench, Central Park"

{see if you can spot the smiley face in the above photo}

"Row Of Gates, Central Park"

"Imagine No.1, Strawberry Fields, Central Park"

"Imagine No.2, Strawberry Fields, Central Park"

"Hayden Planetarium At Night"

{Ellen played with the last one and got some colors to come out}

Arg, I feel like I have a million things to do but I don't know what they are. Mostly, I feel exhausted. I think I will work on my Flash midterm (an MP3 player). I have to decide what songs I want to put in it. Any suggestions?

Fignuts!

I watched the Sealab Season 1 and 2 DVD box sets. They have some great episodes but the special features like "A Tour of 7030" are kind of lame (no actually behind the scenes stuff).

Wow, I actually have a moment of peace and quiet for a blog post, with pictures too! Here are some more photos of the Gate in Central park that I took last weekend :-)

"Little Dog with Sweater, Central Park"

"Matching Boots, Central Park"

"Winding Gates, Central Park"

What else is there to say? Probably a lot. I discovered that I like pizza with mushrooms, black olives, and fresh tomato thanks to a special someone :-). My 2D design professor makes me want to light my project on fire and flee to Mexico (I just keep telling myself that it's my last undergraduate class and all I have to do is pass). My Flash/Actionscript midterm project has me very excited. It's open ended and we can make anything we want. I'm going to try to make an MP3 jukebox that displays song information, if possible. Or maybe I'll take the easy way out and just make a puzzle. We are attempting to establish a new Friday night tradition of going to The Barefoot Peddler for drinks after class, but there beer selection is weak. In other news I want to go to SIGGRAPH 2005 so bad that part of me hopes that I don't get an internship this summer, even though that would be very bad. Arrrrrggggg, I want to go to SIGGRAPH. Maybe if I do get an internship they will let me go. I hope. I'm receiving constant reminders of what fun I'll miss if I don't go. It is painful. "What the hell do I need a job for, I want to go to Los Angeles!" Fignuts!

More to come...
