Glued

Stupid 2D design. If I finish my project by next week I can skip the makeup class. It's a continuation of my previous project but in color (also known as colour). "It's a process." boooooooooo. Any way, I'm taking one of many long breaks from doing it becuase my back/knees/legs/feet hurt and I keep getting coated in glue.

I feel like someone cut my tow line and I'm just sort of drifting aimlessly about the ocean. What to do...

{uncross your fingers}

I just found out I'm not going to New Hampshire this summer. Maybe I'll go to SIGGRAPH instead. Too bad I can't get credit for it, and it will cost $$$ since I was not accepted as a stundent volunteer. Plus Paul got some bad news, so today sucks big time.

self explanitory

{cross your fingers}

I have submitted an email with a link to my demo reel to someone at Hatchling Studios in New Hampshire for a summer internship. Cross your fingers...

A new website

I'm putting up a new website. Click Here!. It is not complete yet (no CV at the moment). It's very simple because I needed it up fast to try to get an internship. My Flash final is going to be a website for my demo reel, so if that's any good I'll put it up there at the end of the semester.

Who is this guy?

Lawrence found this hilarious review of the new Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet on amazon:

Now, I am the master, November 15, 2004
Reviewer: chatchi (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

As the manager of a team of ten employees, I could sense that I was losing my grasp on them. I tried a number of different techniques to get them back on board, but after resorting to an unsuccessful five-week phase of using profanity to emphasize my demands, I realized that I was beginning to run out of options. I needed something that would reinforce the fact that I was the authority, and that my team had to do everything I said.

With the recent DVD release of the original "Star Wars" trilogy, I was reminded of the command and fear that the evil Darth Vader had over people. His menacing appearance and voice were just what I needed to bring my team back together and achieve the levels of productivity I strived for.

The mask arrived at the perfect time. Morale was low, and my employees were starting to undermine everything I told them. I found their lack of faith disturbing, so I scheduled an emergency meeting for my team. Showing up five minutes late -- waiting until the tension was thick -- I made my dramatic entrance into the room. Wearing all black and my Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet, I could literally see beads of sweat instantly form on their foreheads. My imposing visage made my statement clear -- I was the boss.

Utilizing the helmet's voice changer and actual pre-recorded movie lines, my employees quickly recognized that their ability to be insubordinate was insignificant next to the power of upper management.

I may have needed the Darth Vader Voice Changer Helmet to command respect from my team, but because of it, they may yet be of some use to me.

It's An Old Fashion Hole Diggn' !

I'm liking the Sony Cybershot DSC-F828, maybe even more than the Nikon D70. I'm getting fantastically shallow depth of field out of it (which I like :) ). The controls for various shooting modes are also the easiest I have ever used.

"Plastic Firefighter"

"Toy Fire Trucks"

"Dueling Monitors"

My brother found an old monitor that someone was throwing out so he hooked it up to his laptop to double his desktop space. It's filthy.

2005 New York International Auto Show

I feel like I'm not as in to the auto show as I used to be. I took these photos with our lab's new 8 megapixel Sony camera. Unfortunately it only had a 128 MB memory stick so I could only take 40 or so pictures.

"Lincoln Hood"

"Production Solstice"

Alas the production version of the Pontiac Solstice is not as pure as the concept (and there is no coupe... ...yet) but I still wouldn't mind having one. Of course, to someone like me the differences between the concept and production versions are quite radical (like the scalloped lights or conventional exhaust placement), but ordinary folks probably wouldn't notice. The concept was alot smoother and rounder, if that's a word. I really loved the concept coupe.

"Saturn Sky"

The Sky is the Saturn cousin of the Kappa platform Solstice, and bears some resemblance to the Vauxhall concept on the Kappa architecture.

"Sand Sculptures"

"Magnolia Cupcakes"

"Magnolia Checkout"

After the auto show we took the subway downtown to Magnolia Bakery for the best cupcakes known to man. If your in downtown Manhattan I suggest finding Magnolia (even in the pouring rain and high winds like we did). It is the cupcake experience of a lifetime. The address is:

Magnolia Bakery
401 Bleecker Street
New York City
10014

And if you need to call a big order in (or ask for directions): 212-462-2572

I'm thinking of using flickr to host my photos so that all you out there in internet land could see a larger version of my photos without me having to post a larger version and link the smaller one to it. It would also help out on keeping my server space clean, although I do have 2 gigs and the files I post to this blog don't take up much room.

A Sony Cyberhot DSC-F828 8 megapixel 7x optical zoom camera was donated to our lab and I get to play with it :)
