Look ma, no hands!

Click the button to reveal my name! This is an exciting little Flash movie because I programmed the Actionscript without looking at my notes (okay, I had to go back to get it to work, but I only had one thing wrong and had no error messages!) The fact that it toggles my name on and off is a happy accident, I have no idea why that happened and I fully expected my name to stay there once you click the button, but, cool!

My 2D Design Project

The Louie Louie/Futurama Link

I just read in a wikipedia article that the Futurama theme song was originally going to be "Psyche Rock" by Pierre Henry, but they couldn't get the rights to the song, so Christopher Tyng composed a song for the show that was very similar. I found a remix of Psyche Rock on the iTunes music store. I also found it and it's derivative remixes listed on a page on the website "The Louie Louie" pages. It was listed in a section with other songs that are not Louie Louie but maybe sort of sound like it. It's 1 a.m., what in god's name am I writing about. Sleeeeeppppp......

The day after thats photos and some 3D for you

"Midge Karr Interior No.1"

"Midge Karr Interior No.2"

"Fender Stratocaster"

Yes, I'm aware that the post in the second photo is slightly crooked, but the railing on the left is mostly vertical, so what are you going to do? I modeled the Stratocaster for a homework assignment and got carried away. It got to its present state in about two or three hours. I could still add some more details if its going on my demo reel, which I should also be working on. In other news, my actionscript class (programming within Flash) is getting interesting to the point where I might incorporate my final project into one of my web pages.

I might go see the Gates in Central Park on Saturday, if we don't get too much homework in our Friday night class, I hope...

I look so menacing in that profile picture there, that has to come down soon...

"Tech At Night"

{distracted}

Inhalents class, aka 2D design

I just finished one page in my sketchbook for 2D design (4 more to go my Thursday). I'm surprised I am able to write after laying down that much ink from a Sharpie. It's a drawing of "resistance". I actually kind of like the way it came out. It sort of looks like a High School theater poster. Maybe I'll post it but right now I have to go pass out from the fumes (I'm using black construction paper from now on).

A series of {semi} unfortunate events

Having finished class and deposited my car at home, I set out for Croxley's with a certain someone whom wishes to remain anonymous for this story. We hurdled down Herricks (not Hendricks!) road in the direction of the ale house (yes I know we were sort of on the wrong road, so the whole thing may have been my fault). Unfortunately, the largest pothole on Long Island had other plans for our evening (it was really the night, but evening sounds better). With a loud a jarring noise, our vehicle seemed to lurch and then continue to rocket down the road on its previous course until a suitable spot was found to come to rest. We had accidently arrived at a friends house, though he was not there. We inspected the damage to find a bent rim and an audibly deflating tire. Just then, who should show up with a surprised look on his face but our friend. He curiously stood gazing from his driveway as we stood laughing in the street. We were actually rather fortunate that he was there as both of our heads were screwed on backwards. He suggested we call triple A or one of it's equivalents, but they would have taken quite a while. The tire was far to flat to drive on. And so, our friend went to the gas station and called us with the name of a tow truck company. The company man arrived and proceeded to make use of our onboard tools to attempt to free the dysfunctional rim from it's hub, to no avail. He placed the wrench on one lug and attempted to jump on the tools handle to free the nut, but it did not turn. He returned to his truck and retrieved a wrench of his own. Applying force to two ends of the wrench at once, he pushed and pulled as hard as he could. At once the wrench slipped from the lug, and man and tool flew backwards. Finally, with a hand on one end and a foot on the other, the lugs were freed. After demanding quite a wad for his services, he departed, and we were left confused, laughing, and minus a considerable amount of money. We decided Croxley's was too far to travel on a spare tire... ... but apparently the cornerstone was not. We stopped at a bank so that one of us could stock up. When we got to the bar, it seemed that same one had left their wallet in the car. No matter, after a few Yuenglings, all disaster was seemingly forgotten...

Immelman Turn

Today's soundtrack is composed of various Steppenwolf songs for reasons I shall not mention. Today I tried not looking at the clock while driving places and it made driving much more enjoyable. I just hope my new left front tire holds out (although there is really no reason it shouldn't).

I have to go eat dinner + lunch (dunch, sminner, linnner, you pick) and then go back to class.

Paranoia is forcing me to make 8 million back up copies of my demo reel material as our servers are being wiped clean next week. I guess that's better than no copies.

To class, then maybe Croxley Ales

Stolen from Sarah

Today mostly sucked

But it wasn't because of today's soundtrack

2. The Fool On The Hill
3. Flying
4. Blue Jay Way
5. Your Mother Should Know
6. I Am The Walrus

8. Strawberry Fields Forever
9. Penny Lane
10. Baby You're A Rich Man
11. All You Need Is Love

Oatmeal-Rasin cookies are the purest form of evil

What a nice ending to what started out as a bad day. Right now I feel the way Dr. Bloom looks in the previous post. Class was okay. Then I went to starbucks and had hot chocolate with Ellen :) and then I went and had some most excellent wings and Yuengling Lager at The Cornerstone with John. I have to get up early to take more photos for the slate but it should be cool hanging around at the Slate office on layout day ;)

As for the title of this post, uh, lets blame Yuengling!

"Double Dr. Bloom"

Well my first photo assignment for The Slate didn't go so well. Its a good thing I'm not registered for credit for it, but at the same time, I still don't want to tell them I'm going to do something and then not get it done. Don't worry, there is a better photo of Dr. Bloom that I took that may actually be usable.

Armenia City In The Sky

Wow, what a day. I should have stayed at school all day but I kept driving back home like an idiot.

First up I went to my first meeting of The Campus Slate. It only took me four and a half years of saying "I think I'll join the school newspaper" to actually do it. I have to get bunches of photos now which will necessitate driving to school at weird times. Plus everything conflicts. Why do all the clubs meet at the same time on the same day? We need at least three more days in the week. I suggest Frinesday, Wenterdat, and, uh, Tunderday. Anyway, they all had pizza at the slate meeting but I left early for no apparent reason. I wish I had stayed. Oh well, I'll see them all again on Thursday, which is layout day.

Then I came home and had to go back almost immediately for a meeting. Then I came home again and soon had to go back to TA the Animation 1 class. I wanted to go back early to back my files on to DVD. I got there and the door was locked. No problem. I have my key. I put it in and turn it and, nothing happens. Fantastic. Did they change the locks on me? I sat on the floor until the lab manager, Rob, happened to walk by and opened it for me. I burned some of my stuff and deleted other stuff and got my server space down to 650 MB!!!!!!!!! It was at 3 gigs and I was probably on the server-abuse most wanted list (they must have had a reward if found dead or alive sign up somewhere with my face on it). I'm not sure how I'm going to work on my demo reel with a 700 MB limit, but I'll figure it oot. During class, I tell Paul to try my key in the door and of course it works without incident for him. Then I tried it and nothing. You have to turn it REALLY hard. I'll bring a wrench next time.

Now I'm sitting around doing nothing. I left school early and raced home to see if anyone wanted to go to Croxley Ales but I can't find anybody. I have to genetically engineer a friend who does nothing but hang out with me. And buy me weird and strange beers at Croxley's.

That new portrait I put up makes me look a lot less friendly. I may switch back even though the other one looks really goofy. Maybe I'll change it to one where I'm drunk. Then again, maybe not.

Today's soundtrack was: The Who Sell Out by The Who

Today was brought to you by the letter S, the first letter my finger happened to hit on the keyboard just now.

So that's what its' like to be five cents short of a bag of M&Ms. Story of my life.
