My Corrugated PVC Window Well Cover

My new emergency egress window well needed a a window well cover to keep out rain, leaves, drifting snow, neighbor kids and whatnot. I built it out of corrugated PVC and pressure-treated lumber. In retrospect, it could have been a bit simpler with a fixed PVC panel, but I made a hinge-like connection with eye bolts.









Probably based on something I saw watching lots of M*A*S*H episodes.



This bit is somewhat more complicated than need be. Actually the whole frame for the plastic is a bit more complicated than need be. It was originally built with the idea that it should open, and it probably would very easily in an emergency. But in an emergency you could also just push the whole unit away and escape, so a fixed cover would have been easier to make.
